The day this high temp board delivered to the house (backing up a half-mile up our hill) in an enormous tracker trailer it started to come together. Things continued at a steady pace from this point on.
When I look back at how quickly this assembled (and started to feel like my little house on fire), and when I now can touch the outside boards of the kiln (high fire soft brick inside) you feel nothing. Not even a hint that a fire that's inside. And after last summer sheet rocking the guest room, having an idea what it feels like to cut through that board, this is just about the same density. I wished I captured those moments with the truck. I told the driver he was amazing and after commenting on the beautiful view at 1600' that is our property admitted that was nothing. He's driven through more complicated passes.
My dad in high fashion with a huge hole in his hat. It has since been duck taped. I really want to buy him a new hat but apparently it's fix enough. How did I come from him? :)
