It's the end of November, 2016, only a few short days after Thanksgiving. Between sheets of rain, we packed the car with the cut steel frames and plans, en route to the welding studio just a short drive down the county road.
As a craftsman I take great satisfaction watching a skill I admire and something if I had had enough time and credits would have pursued in art school. This was nothing short of amazing to me to see this actualize. I watched as great care was taken in measurement and steady hands. There have been a few points in this project I was not an active participant and this was one of them. This though was a hallmark occasion, the foundation complete for the gas kiln that I would let myself enjoy the show as there would be more opportunities to dig in after this. This part was crucial to go off well, for so many reasons, but I've heard my father remark about Tim's work quite a few times during the installation of the ceramic board and then again in the brick laying just how well the frame worked out.
